Greek weddings always have a special place in my heart. I usually capture about 2-3 per year in Toronto and sometimes other parts of Canada and even USA. This was an absolutely humbling experience in some aspects of wedding photography.
There were a few things that made the reception special for guests. Kids and adults loved a magician. When it comes to entertainers, magicians always get a lot of crowds. Towards the midnight, along with the sweet table and snacks there was also an ice cream truck. Line ups were long!
As with all Greek weddings, there was non-stop dancing that ranged from the typical wedding songs to the traditional Greek music such as the famous kalamatiana. Though, as you will see from pictures, the party started early in the morning, with a band.
As most Greek weddings, the day was full of customs, traditions and the Orthodox church ceremony was beautiful. Before I show their beautiful wedding pictures, I’d like to switch things up a bit and start with their downtown Toronto engagement session.
They wanted a fashion-styled engagement session and the location was just perfect for that. Some couples ask me to tell them the perfect location for an engagement session and the answer always involves first discussing it with the couple as there’s no “perfection location” for everyone. A couple who loves nature would not like architectural setting and vise versa. I’ve been blessed to be able to document also engagement sessions in other parts of Canada, USA and abroad for couples who just wanted something different. If you browse this blog, you will not see a lot of examples of engagement sessions, even though I capture a lot of them. There’s certainly a reason for this, but I am not ready to say it publicly. 🙂
